Open toolHYROX race speed index ranking
All 172 races with at least 300 finishers in the four solo divisions, fastest first. The index is how much quicker (−) or slower (+) the same athletes ran at that race than at an average race. The raw column is the plain gap between the race median and the all-race median, which flatters races with strong fields.

All-race medians: Open Men 1:26:18, Open Women 1:35:04, Pro Men 1:19:39, Pro Women 1:25:49. * Too few repeat athletes to adjust, so the index is the raw gap. Roxzone and run total are blank where a race has no split data. Each race name links to its own speed report.
How to pick a PB race
Three things decide how fast a race will feel on the clock. Check them in this order.
1. The field
A race full of fast athletes has a quick median without being an easy course. Valencia 2025 (S7) shows it: its raw median gap is −8.8%, but the same athletes were only +0.4% quicker there than elsewhere. Use the index, not the raw gap, to judge the course.
2. The roxzone
The median Open Men roxzone is 6:41 across all races with splits, but venues range from 4:08 at Katowice to 11:26 at Delhi. That gap alone is 7:17 of clock time. The roxzone time benchmark lists every venue.
3. The run course
Among races with splits, the median Open Men run total goes from 32:19 at London Excel 2025 to 49:37 at Johannesburg 2025 (S7). Laps, turns and surface decide a lot of that. If you have a strong run, a fast-looking course rewards you more.

Slowest HYROX races and why
The ten slowest races are one of the slowest courses at the top end. Where a race has split data we show whether the extra time came from the runs or the roxzone, compared with the all-race Open Men medians (39:55 run total, 6:41 roxzone).

Altitude, heat, humidity, floor surface and course layout can all slow a race, and the results cannot separate them. Treat the index as what happened, not as a diagnosis. A slow index also tends to follow races with many first-timers; the field adjustment only controls for athletes who raced more than once.
Methodology: controlling for field strength
Comparing medians is unfair to races with strong fields, so the headline index follows athletes instead. We take every Open and Pro athlete with two or more recorded races (70,954 athletes, 202,128 results) and fit ln(finish time) = athlete + race + experience. The athlete term absorbs fitness, the experience term absorbs the improvement most athletes show on later races, and what is left for each race is its index. Results are centred so that zero is the average race.
Only standard races with at least 100 finishers in a solo division are used; championship and invitational fields are left out. A race needs at least 120 repeat-athlete results to get an adjusted index (169 of 172 do); the rest show the raw gap and are starred. Races with at least 300 solo finishers get a page. The remaining spread after the model is about 7.6% for one athlete, so a single result can differ from the index by far more than the index differences between neighbouring races.
Data: 349,015 finishers in the Open Men, Open Women, Pro Men and Pro Women divisions across 172 races at 121 venues, from public results and cleaned for impossible times and duplicate entries. Doubles are not included because team results do not carry a reliable gender. Roxzone is derived as finish time minus run total minus station total, so it exists only for races whose results include splits. RoxUpdates is independent and not affiliated with HYROX.
FAQ
Fastest HYROX races FAQ
What is the fastest HYROX race?
In our results, Warsaw 2026 is the fastest race, running 5.8% quicker than the average race after adjusting for the athletes who entered. Berlin 2025 and Helsinki 2026 follow. The slowest is Hangzhou 2026 at +14.1%, so the spread from fastest to slowest is about 20%.
Why are some HYROX venues slower?
Several things stack up: who enters (a Pro-heavy or qualifier-heavy field is quicker), the run course and floor, the length of the roxzone walk, and conditions such as altitude or heat. We remove the field effect by comparing the same athletes across races. The rest, mostly course and conditions, stays in the index.
Does roxzone length differ between races?
Yes, a lot. Among races with split data, the median Open Men roxzone runs from 4:08 at Katowice to 11:26 at Delhi. Part of that is course layout and part is where timing mats sit. See the roxzone benchmark for every venue and how you compare.
Which HYROX race is best for a PB?
Pick a race with a low speed index, a short roxzone and a run course you can hold pace on. Warsaw 2026, Berlin 2025 and Helsinki 2026 rank best. A fast index helps by a few percent at most, though, so fitness and pacing still decide your time far more than the venue does.
How is the speed index calculated?
We compare athletes who raced more than once: 70,954 of them across 172 races. For each race we estimate how much faster or slower the same people ran there than elsewhere, after allowing for improvement with experience. Zero means an average race, minus means faster, plus means slower.
Can I compare my time between two races?
Yes. The speed index gives a conversion factor between any two races or seasons. Enter your time in the time converter, pick where you ran it and where you want to compare, and it scales the time by the ratio of the two indexes. It is an average adjustment, not a prediction.
