Storylines

Two world records, one weekend

Alexander Rončević set the men's singles world record at 51:59 during the 2025/26 season. Joanna Wietrzyk countered with 54:25 at the Warsaw Major just weeks before Worlds — and became the first athlete ever to sweep all four Majors (Hamburg, Melbourne, Phoenix, Warsaw) in one grand slam season. Strawberry Arena is a fast indoor venue. Both records are realistic targets again.

Wenisch defends — and partners up

Tim Wenisch (Germany) is the defending men's singles World Champion (53:53). 48 hours after the 2025 final, Wenisch also claimed the inaugural Elite15 Pro Doubles title. This year he's teaming up with Rončević — the two fastest singles athletes in the sport — for Saturday's doubles. On paper they're untouchable.

Defending Champion Linda Meier

Linda Meier holds the 2025 women's title at home — Germany. She faces Wietrzyk fresh off the most dominant season in women's Hyrox history. Meier's run-strength vs. Wietrzyk's station-efficiency is the central tactical matchup of the women's race.

North America's title push

Hunter McIntyre, Dylan Scott, Vivian Tafuto, and Lauren Weeks lead the strongest US contingent in years. Cole Learn (Canada) is the dark-horse North American threat. Watch for North America to finally break European dominance on the singles podium.

The Strawberry Arena factor

Cool, indoor, fast — Strawberry Arena is structurally faster than several Majors that produced the current records. Expect course times to drop across most age-group divisions, not just elite. Stockholm's June climate (avg 18°C / 65°F) is the most race-friendly Worlds venue since Manchester 2024.

How to qualify

Two routes:

  • Elite15: Top finishers across four season Majors (Hamburg, Melbourne, Phoenix, Warsaw) and Regional Championships earn invitations. Roll-downs fill any declined slots.
  • Age Group: Hit your division/age-group qualifying time at any regular Hyrox race during the season. Standards are published per division by Hyrox annually.

Only the top 0.5% of all Hyrox athletes worldwide qualify for any race at Worlds — making the field a true global championship in scale, not just elite competition.

After Worlds — what's next

The 2026/27 (Season 9) calendar has launched: 51 confirmed events across 174 race days through December 2026, spanning UK & Ireland, Europe, North America, China, India, South Africa, and APAC.
