The tool ranks your stations by seconds lost against athletes with your finish time. For reference, here is where Open Men lose the most. For each athlete we found the station furthest above the median for their finish time and counted how often each station came out on top.
| Station | Biggest leak for | Avg. loss |
|---|---|---|
| Wall Balls | 26% | 2:00 |
| Burpee Broad Jumps | 20% | 1:12 |

Open Men, 86,711 results with splits. Avg. loss is the seconds over the peer median when that station is the athlete's biggest leak. Among Open Women the most common leak is Wall Balls (23%).
What to train for each of the top three
- Wall Balls: Plan blocks (for example 25 reps) before you fail. Practise wall balls straight after lunges. Station guide.
- Burpee Broad Jumps: Pick a rhythm you can hold for 80 m and keep the jump short. Build from 20 m to 40 m to 80 m blocks. Station guide.
- Sled Pull: Hand-over-hand rhythm without stopping. Build upper back and grip, and train pulls on tired arms. Station guide.

Weakness guides by station
How the comparison works
Peers are real finishers in your division whose finish time is within 4% of yours, taken from 201,757 results with full splits (2024 to 2026, 307 events). For each station the tool takes the peer median and compares your time with it, so a positive number means you were slower than athletes who finished where you did. Because you are compared with your own finish time, a slow station is a relative weakness, not a statement about overall fitness.
The share of athletes faster than you on a station assumes a roughly normal spread around the peer median, using the spread (interquartile range) of the same peers. Results are an estimate; gaps below about 15 seconds are within normal variation. Peer groups always have at least 30 finishers, and times outside the range of our data fall back to the nearest group. RoxUpdates is independent and is not affiliated with HYROX.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Which HYROX station takes the longest?
For Open Men finishing around 1:30, Wall Balls takes the longest at a median 7:15. It is also where slower athletes lose the most time, so it is often the place to make gains. See every station by level in the station times tables.
How do I know my weakest HYROX station?
Compare each of your station times with the median of athletes who finished in your overall time. The station where you are slowest relative to that median is your weakest. Enter all 16 splits in the tool above and it ranks the stations by seconds lost or gained.
What HYROX station should I train most?
Train the station that costs you the most seconds against athletes with your finish time, not the one you like least. Among Open Men, Wall Balls is the biggest leak for 26% of athletes, Burpee Broad Jumps for 20% and Sled Pull for 15%.
Do I need all my splits?
Run and station splits give the best result. If you have no roxzone time, leave it blank and the tool estimates it from your total. You can find your splits in the official results page for your race, under your name.
Is a slow station always a weakness?
Not always. A time below the median for athletes who finished in the same time is a relative weakness, but small gaps of 10 to 15 seconds are within normal variation. Focus on gaps of a minute or more, and treat one-off results with care.
