Computed with the estimator's own plan model. The default pace for each division is solved so that the default plan equals that division's median split, then one input is changed per row. Fatigue is not modelled, so the longest sets and fewest stops look better here than they usually do on the day.

Pacing and technique tips

  • Jump forward, not up. Distance per jump sets how many reps you need, and every extra 10 cm per jump removes reps from the station.
  • Go 15 to 20 percent slower than feels right over the first 20 m. Athletes who sprint the start tend to fade around 50 m.
  • Chest and thighs must reach the floor on each rep. A half rep has to be repeated.
  • No clap or hop at the top is needed. Push up and go straight into the jump, and keep your eyes forward so you can aim.
  • Knees may be used to stand up under the 2025/26 rulebook, which can save legs over 80 m. Test it in training before you rely on it.

Training to improve it

A four-week build from the burpee broad jumps training guide. Time your sessions and feed the numbers back into the estimator.

Four-week burpee broad jumps training progression
Week 1 4 × 20m burpee broad jumps at easy pace, 2min rest. Count your reps to track jump distance.
Week 2 3 × 40m burpee broad jumps, 2min rest. Focus on maintaining jump distance in the second half.
Week 3 2 × 60m burpee broad jumps, 3min rest. Practice the full arc and horizontal jump trajectory.
Week 4 (peak) 1 × 80m full station after a 1km run — feel the cardio demand in race conditions.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the burpee broad jumps take at HYROX?

The median burpee broad jumps split is 5:11 for Open Men, 6:10 for Open Women, 4:12 for Pro Men and 5:03 for Pro Women, from season 8 results. The fastest 10% of Open Men finish in 3:38 and the slowest quarter take 6:23 or more.

What weight is the HYROX burpee broad jump?

None. The burpee broad jump is 80 m of bodyweight work in every division, Open or Pro, men or women. There is no ball, bag or vest. Your jump length decides the rep count: at 1.5 m per jump you need 54 reps, at 1.8 m you need 45 and at 2.0 m you need 40.

Can you use your knees on the HYROX burpee broad jump?

Yes. The 2025/26 rulebook explicitly allows using your knees to step up to standing, which is less explosive and can save legs over 80 m. Your chest and thighs must still reach the floor on each rep, and you must stand upright before the jump. Check the current rulebook before race day.

How do I get faster at the burpee broad jump?

Practise the full movement, not plain burpees. Do sets of 15 to 20 aimed at a longer horizontal jump, then add 20 m sets before a run. Go 15 to 20 percent slower than feels right over the first 20 m, because the athletes who sprint the start tend to fade.

What is a good burpee broad jumps time at HYROX?

Under 4:16 is top quarter for Open Men and under 5:09 for Open Women. Under 3:38 and 4:24 is the top 10%. Beating the median for your division, 5:11 for Open Men and 6:10 for Open Women, means you are faster than half the field.

How accurate is the burpee broad jumps estimator?

Treat it as arithmetic on your own numbers. Time is work plus rests, and the default pace is solved so the default plan equals your division's median split. It does not model fatigue inside the station or no-reps, so test the plan in training and adjust the pace field to what you can actually hold.

How this is calculated

Benchmarks are real split times from 131,355 season 8 (2025/26) HYROX race results in the RoxUpdates athlete dataset (82,887 athletes across all seasons, data checked 2026-10-29). For the burpee broad jumps, 102,671 splits from the four singles divisions are used, 53,920 Open Men, 24,733 Open Women, 15,655 Pro Men, 8,363 Pro Women. Season 8 only, so weights and rules match today's. Finishes under 45 or over 240 minutes and implausible splits are removed.

Percentiles come from a 21-point quantile table (P1, P5, P10 to P95 in steps of 5, P99) per division, with linear interpolation between points. "Beats X%" means that share of finishers in your division had a slower split. P10 is the time that 10% of finishers beat.

The plan model is time = work + rests, using your own pace numbers. The default pace for each division is solved so the default plan equals that division's median split. It does not model fatigue inside the station or no-reps, so treat the result as a target to test in training.

RoxUpdates is independent and not affiliated with HYROX. Weights come from the official rulebook as checked on the Hyrox weights tool. Doubles rows are team splits where partners share the work, so they are not comparable with singles.
