2:59 is slower than the middle finisher, faster than the back quarter for Open Men. The plan counts work and rests only. Fatigue inside the station and no-reps are not modelled, so treat it as a target to test, not a promise.

Weights by division

Race weight is set by division, so the same 50 m takes a different effort in each. Doubles teams use the matching Open or Pro weights and share the work. Full table on the Hyrox weights tool.

Finish splits in minutes:seconds. P10 means 10% of finishers were faster. Season 8 (2025/26) results. Fast is the top 10% of finishers, Good the top 25%, Beginner the slower quarter.

Computed with the estimator's own plan model. The default pace for each division is solved so that the default plan equals that division's median split, then one input is changed per row. Fatigue is not modelled, so the longest sets and fewest stops look better here than they usually do on the day.

Pacing and technique tips

  • Use the four 12.5 m lengths as checkpoints. The lane has a marked line the sled must cross before you turn, so plan your effort per length.
  • Hold roughly 80 to 90 percent effort. If you cannot, plan a short breath rather than pushing until you stall, because restarting a stopped sled costs more than a planned pause.
  • Keep your chest low and your hands as low on the handles as they will go. A tall torso gives away leverage.
  • Take short, quick steps and extend each leg fully. Long strides lose momentum.
  • Choose shoulder push or elbow-pits in training. Use elbow-pits if your run after the sled falls apart, and shoulder push if the push itself is the weak number.

Training to improve it

A four-week build from the sled push training guide. Time your sessions and feed the numbers back into the estimator.

Four-week sled push training progression
Week 1 6 × 25m sled push at 70% race weight, 90s rest. Focus on body angle and step cadence.
Week 2 4 × 50m sled push at 85% race weight, 2min rest. Target sub-2:00 for Open Men.
Week 3 3 × 50m sled push at race weight, 2min rest. Time each effort and aim for consistency.
Week 4 (peak) 1 × 50m at race weight immediately after 1000m SkiErg — simulate the race sequence.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the sled push take at HYROX?

The median sled push split is 2:58 for Open Men, 2:49 for Open Women, 3:40 for Pro Men and 3:55 for Pro Women, from season 8 results. The fastest 10% of Open Men finish in 2:15 and the slowest quarter take 3:31 or more.

What weight is the HYROX sled push?

Open Men move 152 kg, Open Women 102 kg, Pro Men 202 kg and Pro Women 152 kg, including the sled, over 50 m in four 12.5 m lengths. Doubles teams use the matching Open or Pro weight and split the distance between them.

How should I pace the sled push?

Hold roughly 80 to 90 percent effort and use the four 12.5 m lengths as checkpoints. Plan a short breath, about 2 to 3 seconds, before you stall, because restarting a stopped sled costs more than a planned pause. After a warning, each further movement infringement adds a 15 second penalty.

How do I get faster at the sled push?

Keep your chest low, hands low on the handles and steps short and quick. Push twice a week, one heavy short session and one fatigued session, on a surface close to race carpet. Rubber mats stand in better than turf, which lets the sled slide too freely.

What is a good sled push time at HYROX?

Under 2:33 is top quarter for Open Men and under 2:25 for Open Women. Under 2:15 and 2:07 is the top 10%. Beating the median for your division, 2:58 for Open Men and 2:49 for Open Women, means you are faster than half the field.

How accurate is the sled push estimator?

Treat it as arithmetic on your own numbers. Time is work plus rests, and the default pace is solved so the default plan equals your division's median split. It does not model fatigue inside the station or no-reps, so test the plan in training and adjust the pace field to what you can actually hold.

How this is calculated

Benchmarks are real split times from 131,355 season 8 (2025/26) HYROX race results in the RoxUpdates athlete dataset (82,887 athletes across all seasons, data checked 2026-10-29). For the sled push, 103,240 splits from the four singles divisions are used, 54,163 Open Men, 24,803 Open Women, 15,893 Pro Men, 8,381 Pro Women. Season 8 only, so weights and rules match today's. Finishes under 45 or over 240 minutes and implausible splits are removed.

Percentiles come from a 21-point quantile table (P1, P5, P10 to P95 in steps of 5, P99) per division, with linear interpolation between points. "Beats X%" means that share of finishers in your division had a slower split. P10 is the time that 10% of finishers beat.

The plan model is time = work + rests, using your own pace numbers. The default pace for each division is solved so the default plan equals that division's median split. It does not model fatigue inside the station or no-reps, so treat the result as a target to test in training.

RoxUpdates is independent and not affiliated with HYROX. Weights come from the official rulebook as checked on the Hyrox weights tool. Doubles rows are team splits where partners share the work, so they are not comparable with singles.
