How venue and season adjustments work

Every race has a speed index: how much faster or slower the same athletes ran there than at an average race. To convert, the tool multiplies your time by (1 + index of the target) ÷ (1 + index of the source). From Brisbane 2024 to Warsaw 2026 that is −5.8%. For seasons it uses the finisher-weighted average index of that season's races.

The index comes from following athletes who raced more than once, so it separates the course and conditions from how strong the field was. A fast venue is not the same as a fast field. The ranking behind these factors is on the fastest HYROX races page, and the placement calculator shows where a time would rank at each one.

Methodology

The index is fitted to ln(finish time) = athlete + race + experience using 70,954 athletes and 202,128 results across 172 standard races at 121 venues (Open and Pro solo divisions; doubles, championship and invitational fields excluded). Races with too few repeat athletes use the raw gap between the race median and the all-race median. The leftover athlete-to-race variation is about 8%, which is why a converted time is a fair-comparison guide and not a forecast.

Limits: the factor is one number per race, so it applies the same percentage to every athlete and every division, and it cannot separate course from weather or altitude. Seasons are the numbered seasons stamped on the results files. RoxUpdates is independent and not affiliated with HYROX.

FAQ

Time converter FAQ

Can you compare HYROX times between races?

Yes, with an adjustment. Races differ in speed: after allowing for who entered, Warsaw 2026 ran 5.8% faster than the average race and Hangzhou 2026 14.1% slower. The converter scales your time by the ratio of two races' speed indexes.

How accurate is the HYROX time converter?

It is an average adjustment, not a prediction. After the venue effect, one athlete's race-to-race results still vary by about 8%, which is several minutes on a 1:30 finish. Use the converter to judge whether a time was good for the course, not to forecast your next race.

Do HYROX times change between seasons?

Very little. Season averages of the speed index sit within 0.2 percentage points of each other, a few seconds on a 1:30 finish. The venue matters about 80 times more than the season, so the converter's race list does most of the work.

Can I convert between Open and Pro or men and women?

Not here. This tool only adjusts for venue and season. Divisions run different weights and have their own finish-time distributions, so a ratio from one race does not convert between them. For that, use the Pro vs Open calculator.
