How HYROX World Championship qualification works

Qualification is by placing, not by a fixed time. Age group: finish high enough in your division and age group at a qualifying race to earn one of that race's allocated slots, then accept it within the response window. Elite 15: the top finishers at the season Majors and Regional Championships are invited, and from 2026/27 the pathway uses a points system that started on July 1, 2026.

The official rules, slot counts and which races qualify are set by HYROX and can change from season to season. Read our HYROX World Championships 2026 guide, the step-by-step qualification article and the Elite 15 2026 page, then confirm on the HYROX event page for your race.

This tool answers a different question: how fast have people finishing 1st, 3rd, 5th and 10th in an age group actually been? Our results data does not say which races offered slots or how many, so we do not publish a "qualifying time". Treat the numbers as a guide to the level a placing takes. To see the current season's fastest athletes, use the global age group rankings; to check a specific race, use the age group podium time calculator.

Races where a top-3 placing was easiest

Races where the 3rd-place time was slowest, and races where it was fastest, with the number of finishers in the age group. A slow 3rd-place time usually means a thin or weaker age group field, not an easier course.

Elite 15: the Pro winner benchmark

Elite 15 is an invitation field, not an age group result, so the age group numbers above do not apply to it. For scale, here is how fast the fastest Pro finisher has been at ordinary city races. HYROX sets the Elite 15 selection rules; see the Elite 15 2026 page for the field and results.

Methodology and sources

We use finishes from public HYROX results in the RoxUpdates dataset: 281,365 Open and Pro singles finishes across 133 races from Season 8 onward (Season 8 is 2025/26; Season 9 is 2026/27). Championships, regional events and invitationals are left out so every race is an ordinary city race with a similar entry profile. For each race, division and age group we sort the finish times and take the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 10th. A race counts only if the age group had at least 10 finishers, or at least three times the target place when that is larger (15 for top 5, 30 for top 10). We then summarise the Nth-place time across races (10th percentile, median, 90th percentile), keeping a placing only when at least 10 races qualify. The calculator reads your time against that spread: the share of races where the Nth-place time was slower than yours is the share of races in which your time would have made that placing. Our data does not include slot counts, wild cards or declined slots, so these are placing times, not qualifying cut-offs. Times under 45 minutes or over 4 hours are dropped as errors. FAQ

HYROX World Championship qualification FAQ

How do you qualify for HYROX World Championships?

Age-group athletes qualify by finishing high enough in their division and age group at a qualifying race, which offers a limited number of slots. Elite 15 places go to the top finishers at the season Majors and Regional Championships, then by a points system from 2026/27. HYROX publishes the exact rules; see our World Championships guide.

What time do I need to qualify for HYROX Worlds?

There is no fixed qualifying time. Qualification is by placing, so the time depends on the race and the field. For Open Men 30–34, a 3rd-place finish has taken a median 1:01:28, ranging from 58:20 in the fastest 10% of races to 1:07:28 in the slowest 10%.

How many slots per age group are there?

Our results data does not record slot counts, so we cannot tell you. HYROX allocates a limited number of slots per division and age group at each qualifying race, and they differ by race size. Check the event page or HYROX before you enter. The calculator shows top 1, 3, 5 and 10 placings so you can test several cut-offs.

Is this the official qualifying time?

No. RoxUpdates is independent and not affiliated with HYROX. These are the finish times of past 1st, 3rd, 5th and 10th placed athletes in ordinary city races, taken from public results. They show what a placing has taken. They are not cut-offs, and HYROX sets the real rules.

Which races are easiest to qualify at?

Races with a thinner age group field or slower typical times. For Open Women 30–34, the slowest top-3 times in our data were Mumbai 2025 (1:38:01), Delhi 2025 (1:37:26), Bengaluru 2026 (1:30:50). Each age group page lists its easiest and hardest races, and the race speed index shows how fast each venue runs.

What does it take to make the Elite 15?

Elite 15 is by invitation to the top finishers at Majors and Regional Championships, not by age group. For scale, the fastest Pro Men finisher at an ordinary city race had a median time of 56:11 and Pro Women 1:01:52 across 131 races in our data. See the Elite 15 2026 page.

Do I qualify in a different age group if I am close to a cut-off?

HYROX uses your age group on race day, so your age at the event matters. The calculator lets you compare any age group, which helps you see how much the placing time changes as you move up a band, but it does not change which group you are entered in.
