How placements are calculated

Your time is compared with every finisher in the division you pick, and again with the finishers in your age group. Rank is one plus the number of athletes who finished faster. For the 25 fastest finishers in a field the rank is exact. For everyone else it is read from the field's time distribution, sampled every 2.5% of the field and interpolated, which is accurate to about 1% of the field.

Data: 365,068 finishers across 186 races in the Open Men, Open Women, Pro Men and Pro Women divisions, from public results. Times under 45 minutes or over 4 hours, test entries and duplicate rows are removed, so counts can differ from the official lists. Age groups are used when they have at least 10 finishers. Doubles are not included. Championship fields appear in the race list and are marked, because their rankings are not comparable with standard races.
